Global CyberLympics Round Two Penetration test yielded surprising results, as many favored teams did not move into the 3rd round. The hacking-penetration test consisted of teams planting their flags in the system root, while defending themselves from other teams. The competition was very close, but after calculating the final results teams from France, Netherlands, Indonesia, Australia, Colombia, Brazil, Nigeria, Peru, Malawi, United States, Switzerland and Argentina were able to move into the 3rd round.

The Second round yielded surprising results as the top four teams from last round (Hack.ERS – Netherlands, sloopkogel – Netherlands, Codezen – France and Deloitte Latin America) were beat by 4,000 points by the Magpies from Australia who achieved a high score of 16,000 points for the second round. As the competition advances, it becomes more difficult to predict which team will win the world finals due to the competition steadily becoming more competitive.

Teams have already begun preparing for the third round, the CND (Computer Network Defense) competition, as the stakes have become higher. The top six teams remaining for each continent will be reduced to the top two teams, which will be invited to compete at the world finals held live at Hacker Halted in Miami, Florida.

Sanjay Bavisi President of the Global CyberLympics Organizing Committee stated that With the elimination rounds becoming more intense, it will be interesting to find out which teams will advance and win the world finals competition. Teams have an extra week to prepare for the third round of competition so hopefully this will help ease the nerves of the contestants.
